Located in the hamlet of Howtown on the East shore of Ullswater within the Cumbrian Parish of Martindale, our dog friendly cottages are surrounded by breath-taking scenery with stunning views over to Ullswater, Hallin Fell and Martindale Hause.
The cottages are furnished with charm and traditional values, where you can relax in comfort after a hard days walking / canoeing / swimming / cycling. You can even get meals to reheat from the Howtown Hotel Kitchen so although all kitchens are fully equipped the choice to cook or not is yours.
With walks on the doorstep, the direction each day takes is totally up to you. You can trek over High Street and on to Haweswater. Hike up the Fusedale Valley over Pikawassa to Steel Knots or join the Ullswater Way which passes through Howtown. You can walk across the Coombs up to Martindale and Hallin or take the lower-level path which skirts the lake shore onto the further villages of Glenridding and Patterdale.
Ullswater and the Ullswater Steamer Pier are only 200 yards away you can jump on a steamer and enjoy the lake as you travel the length and breadth of Ullswater
All our cottages have ample storage, drying and parking facilities. Superfast broadband is free and extends out into the gardens.
