DIRECTIONS TO HOWTOWN AND LOW GALE:
Please note that the construction of the Bridge at Pooley Bridge is still ongoing and there is no vehicular access across. So, if you are travelling to Howtown Do not follow the signs for Ullswater Steamers.
FROM THE NORTH:
Follow the diversion signs off the roundabout at Junction 40 to A6 South and Pooley Bridge. Travel Through Eamont Bridge and turn right at the small roundabout, ****follow the road signposted Pooley Bridge. You need to travel through the villages of Yanwath, Tirril and on towards Pooley. The road to Howtown is signposted on the left before you get into the village itself.
FROM THE SOUTH:
If you are travelling North up the M6 then you can get off the motorway at Junction 39 and travel up the A6 through the villages of Shap and Hackthorpe, as you enter Eamont Bridge from the South turn left at the roundabout – the Crown Hotel is on the right – and follow the road signposted Pooley Bridge picking up the directions as above***
