Through the Seasons

A holiday cottage in the Lake District.

At Low Gale you can do as much – or as little – as you want whatever the season. Sit in the garden, relax and take in the views; paint, write and read in the most inspiring of surroundings without leaving the front gate. Alternatively you can swim, splash, walk, hike, bike or climb; hire a boat and go fishing or play a round of golf at nearby Penrith or Keswick.

If you are visiting in October then take a walk over through the Martindale valley,  home to one of the oldest native Red Deer Herds in England. The herds of deer come down into the valley for the annual rut as the sound of the stags bounces from fell to fell.

The drop off point for Ullswater Steamers which run throughout the year is on the doorstep, and access to the nearby villages of Glennridding, Patterdale and Pooley Bridge is available by steamer, so  there is really no need to get in back in your car until the day you depart.
